A recent report in South Korean tech publication The Elec states Samsung will scale back output from around 25 million devices a month to merely 10 million units through the month of April. This outlet also quotes an anonymous source to suggest that the current Covid-19 Iockdowns and the halting of factories located in India as well as in Brazil were the cause of the output cut.
They believes production would be normalized through the month of May when both the India and Brazil plants resume manufacturing. But, even though this lockdown has been lengthened in India until the third of May and Covid-19 cases are unfortunately rising in these countries, the return to normal may yet be a more lengthy process than the company anticipates.
However, there’s also a silver lining for the company. Predicted sales of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra are beating all market predictions and sales are believed to reach 6 million phones during the year as against the predicted sales of 3.5 to 5.25 million units.
